I am a licensed psychologist in NY, Texas, and Wisconsin. In 2014, I received my PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Rehabilitation Psychology. Rehabilitation psychology focuses on maximizing health, in spite of mental or physical illness. I am also a former tenure-track faculty member and taught counselors/therapists at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. For postdoctoral work, I completed research and clinical traineeships at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and at Columbia University in New York, New York. With the desire to live closer to family, I returned home to Wisconsin during the COVID-19 era.
For over a decade then, I have been involved in mental health research, with over 80 peer-reviewed journal publications focusing on the development and implementation of new counseling and psychotherapy interventions. My research informs my practice as I focus on key evidence-based elements in therapy, such as building a strong therapeutic alliance or developing goals, which have been linked to favorable client outcomes. In addition, I continue to learn about and offer a variety of new or emerging approaches, such as trauma-informed interventions.
I support individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds and lived experiences, in particular persons with depression, anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), chronic illnesses and disabilities, bipolar disorders, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relationship concerns, work stress, and life transition and adjustment issues. Given my clinical teaching and research background, I also provide therapy to other therapists, health care providers, and academics.
You have the option to pay out-of-pocket, or I accept certain insurance plans. You will be responsible for paying your co-payment or fee for each session in full at time of appointment. In some cases you may be eligible to use out-of-network insurance benefits. If appropriate, I will provide a super bill each month that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If you have out-of-network benefits, they typically will reimburse you for 60-80% of the cost of each session. I receive support with insurance verification and billing through online services/organizations such as Alma.
